About Us
Welcome to WedCred, a wedding gift registry website that was created for the wedding
gift giver as much as it was for the wedding couple. Our mission is to provide an
excellent wedding gift registry alternative for those pursuing a new life together.
My goal with WedCred was to design a registry site for couples that allowed them
to request monetary gifts while simultaneously connecting with friends and family
by providing information about themselves and details about their big day. I specifically
wanted the registry to allow friends and family to see how their monetary wedding
gifts would be used. I hope friends and family will enjoy knowing that the couple
will be able to purchase something truly wanted and needed that they most likely
wouldn’t have received through a more traditional gift registry.
WedCred was also created out of frustration with how traditional wedding gift registries
work. As I have attended many weddings recently, I have also browsed multiple gift
registries, only to find that there tends to be many items that the couple doesn’t
really need or even want, and perhaps were only added to fill up the registry. These
may be items that the couple would never think about buying if it were their own
money being spent, but in the impulsivity of being handed a scanner during the registry
“shopping” experience, they are added to a list of incidental urges.
These are also the purchases that tend to be re-gifted, returned, or simply kept
but never used. As a frequent wedding gift giver, I have found the entire process
to be exhausting – trying to find the perfect gift on the registry but feeling
like whatever I chose was never the right thing. I felt an alternative should be
available and hence WedCred was born. I think it is an innovative and practical
idea and I hope you do too!
